Opnið glugga að heiminum í desember

Samtökin Móðurmál kynna til leiks skemmtilegt jóladagatal: Heimsins jól – fjöltyngt jóladagatal. Á hverjum degi í desember verður hægt að opna fyrir jólakveðju á einu af þeim 100 tungumálum sem töluð eru á Íslandi og 7000 tungumálum sem töluð eru í heiminum.
Í skólastarfi verður hægt að nota jóladagatalið sem hluta af vitundarvakningu um tungumál og þá auðlind sem felst í því að geta talað fleiri en eitt eða tvö tungumál. Jóladagatalið verður að finna á vef og samfélagsmiðlum undir “Móðurmál – samtök um tvítyngi”.
Það er öllum opið að dreifa því og nota í því samhengi sem gæti átt við. Kennarar eru hvattir til að hefja alla skóladaga í desember með því að opna “glugga” að heiminum, bera saman tungumálin, skoða hvar þau eru töluð o.s.frv. Hægt verður að láta börn og ungmenni skreyta veggi skólans með jólakveðjum á mismunandi móðurmálum.
Jóladagatalinu fylgja leiðbeiningar og hugmyndir um notkun þess í kennslustofunni. Tilgangurinn er m.a að vekja athygli á því að fjölbreytni og fjöltyngi eru mikið ríkidæmi en sú áhersla tengist bæði Heimsmarkmiðum Sameinuðu þjóðanna og Barnasáttmálanum.
Heimsins jól – fjöltyngt jóladagatal er á vegum Samtakanna Móðurmáls og birtist í samstarfi við íslensku UNESCO nefndina, Vigdísarstofnun, Reykjavíkurborg, Miðju máls og læsis, Hólabrekkuskóla og Fellaskóla.

Open the Window to the World in December
Móðurmál – the Association on Bilingualism presents a fun Christmas calendar: The World´s Christmas – A Multilingual Calendar. Every day in December it will be possible to open a Christmas greeting in one of the 100 languages spoken in Iceland and 7000 languages spoken in the world.
In schools, it will be possible to use the Christmas calendar as part of raising awareness about languages and the treasure of being able to speak more than one or two languages. The Christmas calendar can be found on the website and social media under “Móðurmál – the Association on Bilingualism”.
It is open to everyone to distribute it and use it in the context that may be relevant. Teachers are encouraged to start every school day in December by opening a “window” to the world, comparing the languages, looking at where they are spoken, etc. Children and young people could decorate the walls of the school with Christmas greetings in different mother tongues.
The Christmas calendar comes with instructions and ideas for using it in the classroom. The purpose is, among other things, to draw attention to the fact that diversity and multilingualism are a great asset, which is an emphasis related to both the United Nations’ Sustainability Development Goals and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The World’s Christmas – Multilingual Calendar is organized by the Móðurmál – the Association on Bilingualism and it is published in collaboration with the Icelandic UNESCO Committee, Vigdís International Center of multilingualism and intercultural understanding, the City of Reykjavík´s Center for Language and Literacy, and the compulsory schools Hólabrekkuskóli and Fellaskóli.
