Welcoming Sonja and Ananda from Gotland!

We were excited to host two inspiring mother tongue teachers, Sonja (German teacher) and Ananda (Spanish teacher), who traveled from Gotland, Sweden, to visit Móðurmál – the Association on Bilingualism, through the Erasmus+ program 15-20 September 2026.

During their 6-day job shadowing visit, they had the opportunity to explore our work, exchange valuable experiences, and connect directly with our mother tongue groups. They joined our monthly Móðurmál meeting, the first of this school year, and through their presentation we got a glimpse into the beauty of Gotland, saw Ananda’s and Sonja’s lives and families there and moreover, we gained valuable insights into how mother tongue education is organized in Sweden.

Ananda and Sonja spent a lively Saturday with us at Hólabrekkuskóli, observing mother tongue teaching sessions in action. They met and talked with teachers, parents, and children. This visit was very practical, and it offered a great opportunity to explore and compare systems, methods, and teaching materials.

On Sunday, we spent a wonderful afternoon at the swimming pool and a café afterwards, which was a lovely way of saying goodbye to our friends from Gotland.

A big thank you to Sonja and Ananda for bringing fresh perspectives and enriching our community!

If you are curious to learn more about their work, please visit the homepage of Gotland municipality.
